Basketball Recap: Depaul College Prep Extends Winning Streak to Two

Mother McAuley came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against DePaul College Prep, but Grace Lee wouldn't allow it. The DePaul College Prep Rams walked away with a 56-48 win over the Mother McAuley Mighty Macs on Thursday thanks in part to Lee, who went 10 for 18 en route to 25 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlin Totaro, who posted six points and 12 boards. She is becoming a predictor of DePaul College Prep's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 10-3 (and 3-5 when she doesn't).

Mother McAuley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quinn Arundel, who scored 18 points and four steals. Arundel has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Taji Alexa was another key player, going 8 of 20 on her way to 20 points along with five boards and four steals.

The victory made it two in a row for DePaul College Prep and bumps their season record up to 13-8. As for Mother McAuley, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 13-8.

DePaul College Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-22 win against Jones on the 18th. As for Mother McAuley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-57 victory against Thornton Fractional North on the 20th.
