The Eastlake Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Skyline Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Eastlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Eastlake needed a bit of extra time to put away Liberty. They skirted past the Patriots 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Wolves have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Addi Baumgartner spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, Eastlake's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Macie Parthemer, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Skyline waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Kangaroos 14-3. Considering the Spartans have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison McGillis looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nazli Chavez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Staley, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one double.
Skyline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Skyline's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Eastlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Eastlake hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
