Baseball Recap: Iola Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Mumford typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Iola proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Mustangs 12-3. Considering the Bulldogs have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brody Dobbins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brek Roberts and Colin Fowler did most of the damage at the plate: Roberts scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Fowler got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those four runs gave Roberts a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Weston Roubion, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Iola pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Mumford, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Iola will square off against Richards at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mumford, they will face off against Somerville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Yeguas at the right time seeing as the Yeguas are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
