Softball Recap: Northside Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Northside entered their tilt with Demopolis on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-2 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Baylee Appling made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had over her last ten contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Lyons, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Sharbutt, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Northside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in 13 consecutive games.

Northside pushed their record up to 31-13-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Demopolis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season.

Northside will square off against Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Demopolis, they will take on West Blocton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Demopolis will need to watch out since West Blocton has now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
