Baker Mayfield and Romey Kelso provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Anderson. The connection went for 76 yards, the longest such play in 5A Region II District 15 this season.
Westlake extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Del Valle, 31-9. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Lake Travis's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mayfield threw for 300 and two touchdowns and Kelso had 105 yards receiving. On the ground Dominic Packer chipped in 113 yards.
The Cavaliers' Mayfield and Varshaun Nixon have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Mayfield has thrown for 2015 yards this season, while Nixon has 32 catches for 429 yards. Josh Cleveland from the Cardinals leads the league in rushing with 1029 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Region II District 15 this week will be when Lake Travis takes on Del Valle. At the moment, Hank Carter's team is in first, while Courtney Wash's team is in fifth.
Austin took down Akins 47-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
