Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Metamora's Winning Streak

Metamora dropped their record down to 22-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Dunlap Eagles by a score of 4-3. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Redbirds who fell 2-0 when the teams previously met back in May of 2024.

As for Dunlap, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

For Dunlap's part, Sutton Centoni spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Centoni has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rachel Mies, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Metamora will take on LaSalle-Peru at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Dunlap, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Morton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
