Softball Game Preview: Clinton Arrows vs. North Pike Jaguars

The Clinton Arrows are taking a road trip to take on the North Pike Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clinton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Clinton will head out to face North Pike after giving up their first home loss of the season on Saturday. Clinton fell just short of Northwest Rankin by a score of 2-1. The Arrows have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashlen Albritton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Clinton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Nelson, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double was Nelson's first of the season.

Meanwhile, North Pike was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 11-7 to Puckett. One positive for the Jaguars, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Ellyn Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

North Pike's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Clinton, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-4.

North Pike's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clinton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. It's a different story for North Pike, though, as they've only averaged .159. Will they be able to contain Clinton's hitters?

Clinton beat North Pike 4-0 when the teams last played on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clinton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
