Softball Recap: Richland Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Richland put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Moses Lake Mavericks. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bombers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Ali Evans was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jordan Brannon was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Brannon is also crushing it when it comes to triples: she's hit at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Brooklynn Boyce was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Richland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Richland's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Moses Lake, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Richland will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Walla Walla at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Richland's pitchers better be ready for this one: Walla Walla has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Moses Lake, they will face off against Sunnyside at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Sunnyside's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Moses Lake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
