Richton hasn't had much luck against Resurrection Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Richton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Richton blew Clarkdale out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Clarkdale got their revenge. The Rebels fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-4. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly two runs.
Richton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Sacred Heart hit Resurrection Catholic with a five-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 11-10. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost three in a row.
Sully May stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Collin McCormick was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Resurrection Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Richton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Richton's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Rebels have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Resurrection Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Richton continue to outrun the ball?
Richton might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Resurrection Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
