Taconic has gone 6-1 against Drury recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Thunder will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Taconic and Wahconah Regional, and Taconic kept the tradition alive. The Thunder walked away with an 11-7 win over the Warriors on Friday. Considering the Thunder's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Cheyann Goddard was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Goddard was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylie Duhamel, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ella Stodden, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Drury came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 21-5 margin over the Colts. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Taconic, Drury also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Perry. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Perry has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Drury got a massive performance out of Ava Carriddi, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Maddie Saunders was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory got Drury back to even at 4-4. As for Taconic, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.
