The Freeport Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Central Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Freeport is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Freeport will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Baker on Tuesday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Gators by a score of 14-10. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Kaylee Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits. Carroll was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Freeport got a massive performance out of Faith McDonald, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave McDonald a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Corissa Duggar, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Central duked it out with Booker T. Washington on Monday. The Jaguars never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Jaguars have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Freeport, Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Tenley Smarr. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Smarr was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Blair, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Shelby Zigler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Freeport's record now sits at 8-9. As for Central, they moved to 10-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Freeport hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Freeport skirted past Central 10-8 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
