Vanessa Carroll was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Riley Kidd also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Berne Union came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Knights 21-2. Considering the Rockets have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Josilyn Hedges made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Berne Union's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Liberty Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Berne Union struggles in that department as they've averaged .589. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
