Basketball Recap: Hurricane Falls Despite Big Games from Brigham Kemp and Calan Hughes

Hurricane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 80-68 to the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (61), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Calan Hughes and Brigham Kemp certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hughes went 10 for 11 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds, while Kemp went 10 of 18 on his way to 25 points. The contest was Kemp's fourth in a row with at least ten points. RJ Hurst was another key player, putting up eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crimson Cliffs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drake Carroll, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckay Lindquist, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 22 points and six boards.

Hurricane's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Crimson Cliffs, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Hurricane didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-44 win against Cedar on the 13th. As for Crimson Cliffs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-41 victory against Pine View on the 15th.
