On May 14, 2012, the top two teams in the current league standings will go head to head, as
Northwest Catholic and
Conard meet. The Indians currently hold a 2.50-game lead over the Chieftains for first place.
Southington (8-6, 5-3) is red-hot, having won five straight games, the longest such streak in Central Connecticut - West. Three of those wins came in the past week, includinga 6-1 win over New Britain.
Conard's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 10 hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories. The Chieftains have given up a mere 68 hits on the year in addition to compiling 58 strikeouts.
Charlie Fisher is the leader in that category with 27 Ks on the season.
