Basketball Recap: Deer Comes Up Short

Deer lost against Kingston back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Deer Antlers took a 76-62 bruising from the Kingston Yellowjackets. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (55), the Antlers still had to take the loss.

Defeat or not, Deer got some senior leadership from Mason Guinnip and Carson Breedlove. Guinnip posted 21 points, while Breedlove put up 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Breedlove has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Burdine, who earned ten points.

Deer has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Kingston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deer will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Advanced Studies at 4:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Deer has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 174 points over their last three matches. As for Kingston, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mount Judea at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kingston is facing Mount Judea at the right time seeing as Mount Judea is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
