The East Chapel Hill Wildcats were the 46-38 winner over the Chapel Hill Tigers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. East Chapel Hill took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chapel Hill on Friday. While losing is never fun, East Chapel Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 337th, while Chapel Hill is ranked 65th).
Loss or not, East Chapel Hill got some senior leadership from Isaiah Styron and Thailand Evans. Styron scored 11 points along with six rebounds, while Evans. scored 13 points along with two steals.
David Mirikwe was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds and four steals for Chapel Hill. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Mcilwane, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
East Chapel Hill has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Chapel Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.
East Chapel Hill will be playing at home against Durham Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chapel Hill will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Jordan will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
