The Avon Falcons will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Lewis Mills Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Avon and 18 for Lewis Mills dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Avon was beaten by Bristol Eastern 48-8.
Meanwhile, Lewis Mills was the victim of a rough 38-14 defeat at the hands of Northwest Catholic on Thursday. Lewis Mills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-0.
Despite the defeat, Lewis Mills got a solid performance out of Larry Weaver, who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 90 yards and a touchdown. Weaver really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run.
Avon bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.8 points per game. As for Lewis Mills, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
