The Granada Bobcats will take on the Kit Carson Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Granada has not done well against Holly recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Granada really took it to Holly for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-21 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Granada has posted yet this season.
Granada had a senior duo take command as Mariah Sigala scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals and Marissa Valenzuela scored eight points along with 16 steals and seven assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sigala has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of ToriLin Riddle, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kit Carson was able to grind out a solid victory over Hi-Plains on Saturday, taking the game 51-40.
Kit Carson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Johnson, who scored 17 points. Lindsey Mayhan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Granada now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Kit Carson, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Granada have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kit Carson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 28.4 rebounds per game. Given Granada's sizeable advantage in that area, Kit Carson will need to find a way to close that gap.
