Baseball Recap: Caro Extends Winning Streak to Two

Caro won the last time they faced Bad Axe and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Tigers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hatchets a 22-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Wyatt Waterman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Caro got a massive performance out of Trentin Hessling, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Hessling has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Olyver Downing, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

Caro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Caro and bumps their season record up to 20-15-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Bad Axe, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Coming up, Caro will face off against Cass City at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2.9, the Red Hawks 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Bad Axe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
