Given Middle Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Cary is ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Middle Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makiya Denee Mial, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Denee Mial is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Joi Pergerson, who scored 13 points along with two blocks.
Cary's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyndall Brewington, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Riley Garner was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds.
Middle Creek pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Cary, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.
Middle Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against Apex at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Middle Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Cary, they will head out on the road to square off against Holly Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
