Monarch and Flanagan are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Knights will be home for the holidays to greet the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Flanagan took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Monarch, who comes in off a win.
Monarch is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Hallandale for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-34 victory. The Knights pushed the score to 61-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chargers had no chance of recovering from.
Monarch's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jamar Green, who shot 69% from the field en route to 25 points, and Nikyle Campbell, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 13 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Green now owns an excellent 41.4% three-point shooting accuracy. Bradley Philippe was another key player, putting up five points.
Monarch was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are 4-2 when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, Flanagan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 63-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Taravella.
Monarch will need to focus on slowing down Jonathan Moesch, one of several Flanagan players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6-for-11 on his way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Forges, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.
Monarch's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4. As for Flanagan, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Monarch has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Flanagan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Monarch came up short against Flanagan in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 51-46. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
