Trinity recap October 8, 2013
JSerra Catholic was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Trabuco Hills. The Lions came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Trinity this week, St. John Bosco beat Crenshaw 75-35. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
St. John Bosco's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Josh Rosen threw for 245 and 5 touchdowns and Shay Fields had 145 yards receiving. On the ground Sean McGrew contributed 133 yards. Jaleel Wadood helped St. John Bosco's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 124 yards.
Jason Negro's team's dynamic duo of Rosen and Fields proved to be unstoppable against the Cougars, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wadood helped St. John Bosco's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 124 yards.
He went 13-19 with 0 interceptions.
Jalen Motley made the biggest impact on defense this week as Servite lost to De La Salle. He forced 1 fumble and recorded 1 fumble.
Santa Margarita's KJ Costello and Kyle Sweet have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Costello has thrown for 1,199 yards this season, while Sweet has 39 catches for 747 yards. Casey Eugenio from JSerra Catholic leads the league in rushing with 696 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Friars and Mater Dei. Servite enters the game ranked 19th in the state, while the Monarchs ranks fourth.
The Braves took down Crenshaw 75-35 last week, the largest margin of any game. Rosen ran for 17 yards during the win.
