Spring Valley got a great performance from Gage Roberts as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Roberts a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabe Chambers, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Caiden Lovejoy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Spring Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only posted a batting average of .000.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Riverside and Oak Hill, and Oak Hill kept the tradition alive. The Warriors took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils on Tuesday.
Caden Lipscomb and Eli Burke stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lipscomb went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Burke went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That stolen base marked the first that Lipscomb has snagged this season.
Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Spring Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Spring Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Spring Valley skirted past Riverside 3-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
