Clymer Central has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Maple Grove Red Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Clymer Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Clymer Central's 19-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salamanca on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Clymer Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while Salamanca is ranked 106th).
Despite the defeat, Clymer Central got a solid performance out of Kaden Beckerink, who scored 21 points along with two steals. Beckerink continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Massing, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Maple Grove pushed their score all the way to 60 on January 4th, but even that wasn't enough to win. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 71-60 loss to Panama.
Clymer Central has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Maple Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Clymer Central came up short against Maple Grove in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 47-41. Can Clymer Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
