For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mingo Central and Scott meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again last Friday. The Miners never let the Skyhawks get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. The 19-point effort marked the Miners' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
A big part of Mingo Central's win came down to the chemistry between Jamere Knuckles and his top target Keziah Joplin. Knuckles threw for 179 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes while Joplin picked up 65 receiving yards and one TD.all of that, receiving production came thanks to one massive catch Jacob Maynard was in the mix as well, providing Mingo Central with one score.
One reason for the win was Mingo Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They received some extra help from Maynard, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Logan humbled Scott with a 35-0 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 22 points or more this season.
Logan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Bentley Williamson picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Logan, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Luvante Kenney, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Mingo Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Logan, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-0.
Everything went Mingo Central's way against Logan in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Mingo Central made off with a 32-7 victory. Will the Miners repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
