The Plateau Valley Cowboys put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by De Beque at home to the tune of 48-11. Fans of Plateau Valley have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
It was another big night for Meloni Miller, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Miller is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Bevan, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Ava Vines and Allyson Sandidge certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Vines scored nine points along with 14 rebounds, while Sandidge scored no points. Vines has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, De Beque struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Plateau Valley's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for De Beque, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Plateau Valley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cedaredge at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. De Beque will be home for the holidays to greet Caprock Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Caprock Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday.
