Naugatuck Valley - Brass recap Oct. 16, 2012
Derby moved up to 23 from 49 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Naugatuck Valley - Brass. The Red Raiders climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Watertown 47-19.
Wolcott suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after beating Wilby. The Eagles had been ranked 25th, but fell to 27.
Michael Kreiger put up the best numbers through the air as Derby bested the Indians. He finished with a total of seven completions for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Kreiger's favorite target this week was Jordan Larue, who caught three passes for 59 yards.
Mike Nicol provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Wolcott defeated the Wildcats. He completed nine passes for 103 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 245 yards. Nicol's favorite target this week was Jay Pelletier, who caught two passes for 59 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Eagles take on George French's team. Wolcott is currently in first, while the Red Raiders are in third.
Derby was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Watertown. The Red Raiders came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 49 last week.
