The Lake County Panthers are on the road again on Friday and plays the Arvada Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Lake County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 44 on Saturday.
Lake County scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They came out on top against The Pinnacle by a score of 49-41. That looming 49-41 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lake County yet this season.
Lake County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evelyn Saucedo, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 14 rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Saucedo has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maggie Roeder, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Arvada put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 47-11 win over The Pinnacle at home.
Emma Ngewasi was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Arvada's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmen Medina, who scored two points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Lake County's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-11. Arvada's record is now 9-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lake County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Arvada struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lake County won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, slipping by the Bulldogs 48-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
