Even though the Oakbrook Prep Knights have not done well against the Spartanburg Day Griffins recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Oakbrook Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against the Griffins and snuck past 29-27. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Oakbrook Prep has scored all year.
Oakbrook Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brad Caldwell, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Kelton Smith was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
The victory was the third in a row for Oakbrook Prep, bringing their record for this year to 15-8. As for Spartanburg Day, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Oakbrook Prep will head out on the road to square off against the Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully First Presbyterian Academy at Shannon Forest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday. As for Spartanburg Day, they will be playing at home against the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
