After shooting a mediocre 31-percent from beyond the arc during his freshman season, Omaha Westside's Jadin Booth pretty much moved into the Warrior gymnasium and improved his outside shooting.
Booth, who knocked down 26-of-84 3-point attempts as a freshman, was good on 60-of-124 tries a year ago. The improved marksmanship was a catalyst in Booth scoring 482 points as a sophomore, and helped him reach 608 points 47 games into his high school career. Booth has ripped the cords on 86 of his 208 shots from beyond the arc, or 41.3 percent for his career.
Last season, Booth shot close to 50-percent, or better, regardless of where he was at on the floor. The 6-foot-0 junior guard connected on 58.4-percent from 2-point range and 48.4-percent from beyond the arc. Booth also made 122-of-154 free throws a year ago - good for 79 percent. Thanks to his new shooting touch, and a ton of hard work, Booth is Nebraska's top returning long-range threat for 2018-19.
Elm Creek junior Gage Clabaugh returns after making 47.1 percent of his 3-point tries last season, the second highest returning percentage from 2017-18, and Bennington's Karson Gansebom stretched opposing defenses with a 46.3 3-point percentage. Platteview's Evan Kingston and Cooper Gierhan of Centennial round out this week's Top 5.
Brad Bennett of Mount Michael Benedictine, who according to our database connected on 39.4 percent from beyond the arc a year ago, is listed as the seventh highest returnee from no man's land. However, his shooting percentages were missing from three contests a year ago.
Class C1 is the only classification missing from this week's Top 10. Russ Martinez of Grand Island Central Catholic is the top returnee from Nebraska's third largest classification after he made 37.1 percent of his shots from beyond the arc a year ago.
In order to be considered for this week's Top 10, a returning player had to make at least 50 3-pointers a year ago.
