The third road match was the charm for the Broughton Capitals, as they earned their first road win of the season. They strolled past Green Hope with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 62-43. With that victory, Broughton brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.
Broughton found their leader in underclassman Jordan Page, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Page has scored at least 25% of Broughton's points. Chauncey Sumpter was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rafik Khismatov, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Khismatov is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikhil Ranga, who scored 8 points.
Broughton's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Green Hope, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Broughton will take on Rolesville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Green Hope, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wake Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Wake Forest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday.
