The Pasquotank County Panthers will head out to face off against the Holmes Aces at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Pasquotank County put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over Hertford County. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Tyler Bundy was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Tyshawn Spencer was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Pasquotank County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hertford County only posted an OBP of .346.
Meanwhile, Holmes came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 10-7. While the Aces didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
The team relied heavily on Myles Cobb, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Hare, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Holmes pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pasquotank County, their record now sits at 2-3.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pasquotank County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Holmes struggles in that department as they've averaged .482. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pasquotank County was able to grind out a solid win over Holmes in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 6-2. Will Pasquotank County repeat their success, or does Holmes has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
