Columbia Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Shirley, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Shirley's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Charley Rae Hutchison, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Columbia Academy's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-10. As for Battle Ground Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-10.
Columbia Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fairview at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Fairview is ranked 279th, while Columbia Academy is ranked 269th). As for Battle Ground Academy, they will be playing at home against Franklin Road Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Road Academy and Battle Ground Academy are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
