Spencer and Rutland are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Spencer Greenwave will head out on the road to challenge the Rutland Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Spencer has three straight victories, Rutland has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Spencer can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They breezed by Kendrick on the road to the tune of 68-16. Given Spencer's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Kendrick is ranked 516th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spencer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexandria Berk, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Berk hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Berk, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Rutland suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Central, falling 67-20.
Spencer pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.33 points. As for Rutland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.
Everything came up roses for Spencer against Rutland in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 88-6 victory. With Spencer ahead 55-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
