The Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles were the 43-33 winner over the Calumet Christian Patriots when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Elkhart Christian Academy took a 37-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calumet Christian. Elkhart Christian Academy's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Elkhart Christian Academy lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sydni Haviland, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Haviland continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ryleigh Viront was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Elkhart Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calumet Christian only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calumet Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makenna Landkrohn, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Landkrohn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Laila Ogden, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Elkhart Christian Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-11. As for Calumet Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhart Christian Academy will take on Hamilton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Calumet Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Central at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
