Baseball Recap: Susquehanna Township Has No Trouble Against Harrisburg

Susquehanna Township had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Harrisburg on Monday. The HANNA were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Cougars. Considering the HANNA have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jacole Pate made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Torin Evans was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Susquehanna Township kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Susquehanna Township is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Harrisburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
