Basketball Recap: Marquette Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Marquette won the last time they faced Rolla and things went their way on Sunday too. The Mustangs came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 71-61. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Rolla lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rylee Dodson, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games she's played. Rylee Anderson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Marquette, bringing their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points over those games. As for Rolla, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 8-3.

Marquette has already played their next game, a 57-36 win against Howell Central on the 3rd. As for Rolla, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th.
