After flying high against the North Gaston Wildcats last Tuesday, the South Point Red Raiders came back down to earth. South Point received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 78-64 to Ashbrook. While losing is never fun, South Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Ashbrook is ranked 36th).
South Point's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Graham Williams, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds, and Christian Petty who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaishawn Woods, who scored six points along with two steals.
South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Ashbrook, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Point will take on Forestview at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Forestview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Ashbrook, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kings Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kings Mountain knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Ashbrook likes a good challenge.
