Two dominant guards in Landon Pokorski and Carter Mick are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Gretna Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Lincoln East Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 412 points over their last six games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Gretna gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Bryan with a sharp 73-49 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-14.
Gretna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kade Cook led the charge by scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Pokorski, who scored 20 points.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Lincoln East over Buena Vista in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lincoln East blew Buena Vista out of the water with a 69-22 final score. Given Lincoln East's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Buena Vista is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lincoln East's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mick, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Luke Larson, who scored nine points.
Gretna pushed their record up to 15-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.2 points per game. As for Lincoln East, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Gretna came up short against Lincoln East in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 50-44. Thankfully for Gretna, Carter Tempelmeyer (who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
