The Lincoln Christian Crusaders pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 77-60 fall against Archbishop Bergan. While losing is never fun, Lincoln Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Archbishop Bergan is ranked 74th).
Archbishop Bergan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dawson Pruss led the charge by scoring 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Logan Eggen was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Lincoln Christian's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Archbishop Bergan, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Lincoln Christian will head out on the road to face off against Scotus at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Scotus is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Archbishop Bergan will be home for the holidays to greet Parkview Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkview Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
