Baseball Recap: Doral Academy Snags Tenth Victory in Last 11 Games

While Doral Academy put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Miami. The Doral Academy Firebirds blew past the Miami Stingarees 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Marcelo Rodriguez looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one).

On the hitting side, Dylan Prince was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Josh Cespedes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Doral Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miami only posted a batting average of .118.

Doral Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2-1 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing ten hits in those games compared to only 5.25 in the others. With the defeat, Miami broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2.

Doral Academy (ranked 54th) will meet Gulliver Prep (ranked 475th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Doral Academy will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Meanwhile, Miami will take on Mater Bay Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 311 places (258 vs. 569). The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Doral Academy 2.4, Miami 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
