The Duarte Falcons will challenge the San Dimas Saints at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Duarte will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Duarte's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Sierra Vista. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Alyssa Garcia's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Valeria Hinajosa, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Daniella Matiarena was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, San Dimas lost a heartbreaker to Los Altos when they met back in April of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Saints came up short against the Conquerors, falling 12-2. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Conquerors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
San Dimas saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Schlim, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs.
Duarte pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for San Dimas, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Duarte hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .432. However, it's not like San Dimas struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Duarte suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to San Dimas when the teams last played back in March of 2016. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
