Flagstaff has won four straight games at home, while Douglas has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Eagles will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Flagstaff is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Flagstaff's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Goldwater 15-0. Considering the Eagles have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
DJ Faust made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Flagstaff got a massive performance out of Brody Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Johnson has posted since back in March. Christian Welker was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Flagstaff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Douglas' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastmark.
Flagstaff has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Douglas, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9-1.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Flagstaff hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Douglas struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Flagstaff couldn't quite get it done against Douglas in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 as they fell 6-3. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
