This season hasn't been kind to The Graceville Tigers, who are still winless after their seventh match. They took a 45-26 bruising from North Bay Haven Academy on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Graceville in their matchups with North Bay Haven Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamaris Gainer, who rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 44 yards and a touchdown. Jaidyn Laster was another key contributor, rushing for 126 yards while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
North Bay Haven Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Spurlock out in front who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Lakota Johnson, who threw for 285 yards and a touchdown while completing 82.4% of his passes.
Graceville's defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.6 points per game. As for North Bay Haven Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-4.
Graceville will head out on the road to face off against Freeport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they will be playing at home against South Walton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Carson Hawk and Johnson.
