Council Grove has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will challenge the Rock Creek Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Council Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Council Grove came up short against Silver Lake and fell 59-49. That's two games in a row now that Council Grove has lost by exactly ten points.
Despite their loss, Council Grove saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brycen Palmquist, who scored 22 points, was perhaps the best of all. Palmquist scored a full 44.9% of Council Grove's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyzer Spittles, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Rock Creek lost to Abilene at home by a decisive 70-52 margin on Tuesday.
West Franklin's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Council Grove's defeat dropped theirs to 0-1.
Things could have been worse for Council Grove, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-50 loss to Rock Creek in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Council Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
