The Middleton Vikings entered their tilt with the Meridian Warriors with 14 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 15. Middleton narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Meridian 61-58. Given Middleton's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Meridian is ranked 70th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Middleton to victory were Aysha Fried and Zoey Blackwell. Fried scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Blackwell scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Blackwell hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. Lauren Landis was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Middleton pushed their record up to 18-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Meridian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.
Middleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Meridian also has no future games currently scheduled.
