On Thursday, Pinnacle faced Horizon in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Pinnacle Pioneers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Horizon Huskies , sneaking past  54-51. The  victory was nothing new for the Pioneers as they're now sitting on three straight.
  Wyatt Horton was  his usual excellent self, throwing for 480 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was  Alex Lugo, who picked up 143 receiving yards and a touchdown.
 Despite the loss, Horizon still got an impressive performance from   Jase Ashley, who threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown.  Jordan Partridge was  Ashley's top target, picking up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground.
 Pinnacle's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Horizon, their  loss was their first of the  season and also makes their record 3-1.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinnacle will square off against ALA - Queen Creek at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Pinnacle knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with 31 point or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully ALA - Queen Creek likes a good challenge. As for Horizon, they will take on Millennium at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Horizon will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak  dating back to last season alive.
