The Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took down Cocke County 75-59. The victory was some much needed relief for Morristown-Hamblen West as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
When it comes to explaining why Cocke County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Fine. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Fine is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Raeshon Palmer, who scored 12 points along with eight steals.
Even though they lost, Cocke County were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their 12th loss (out of 20 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
The win got Morristown-Hamblen West back to even at 10-10. As for Cocke County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morristown-Hamblen West will take on the Smoky Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sevier County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Trojans in Tennessee (the Smoky Bears are ranked 43rd, while the Trojans are ranked 130th). As for Cocke County, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Northview Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
