The West Lincoln Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 90-54 defeat at the hands of Maiden. While losing is never fun, West Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while Maiden is ranked 157th).
When it comes to explaining why West Lincoln lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mikalister Andersen. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. Those five blocks set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Allen, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, West Lincoln were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
West Lincoln's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for Maiden, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
West Lincoln will be playing in front of their home fans against Bunker Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunker Hill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully West Lincoln likes a good challenge. As for Maiden, they will head out on the road to face off against West Caldwell at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Caldwell is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
