The Sumner Spartans put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Puyallup 57-16 at home. The result was nothing new for Sumner, who have now won nine games by 26 points or more so far this season.
Sumner's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lainee Houillon, who scored 12 points along with five steals. The contest was Houillon's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Collins, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Sumner pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for Puyallup, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Sumner will head out on the road to face off against Emerald Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Emerald Ridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Puyallup, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bellarmine Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bellarmine Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Puyallup in Washington (Bellarmine Prep is ranked 55th, while Puyallup is ranked 246th).
